Spite is a powerful tool that can cause inflammation of the spirit. It gives way to a root of bitterness that can grow powerful and contaminate a good natured person. Often in life when trials arise we are given choices. Sometimes we like the choices presented to us and sometimes we do not. One thing is for sure though, the longer you live the greater the challenges become.
Over the years we have discussed and tiptoed around bitterness, spite, anger, and resentment. These words reflect emotions and decisions we have made based on choices presented to us by our own design and not. Its what we do with these emotions and tempered decisions that leave a light trail behind us.
Commotion and chaos causes a reaction in us all. Its these uninvited circumstances that reflect the light we have to share. Of course when we are in the midst of a trial, it is hard to say that the light is always in a pure form. More often than not, that light turns shades of color. Your actions and the way you handle the distress of the trials leaves a visible light for others to see. It is during those times that a believer in Christ needs to have a spectrum analysis done.
In the world of physics and electronics one can find in his or her studies that not all light is visible by the human eye. Our senses can not process the full spectrum, yet this does not mean that we aren’t effected by the unseen light rays. In fact, depending on the level of exposure it can often leave a burnt trail that needs to be tended to with ointments. We call that a sunburn. Over exposure with untreated skin can lead to burns, blisters and more. It is wise to take precautions when one is going out for prolonged periods of time in the direct sunlight.
Trails of light are left upon the scenarios of life that we live out. It can be a healthy light that is exposed and witnessed, but it can also be a vulgar light that has been overly contaminated by spite, bitterness, and self righteousness. Whether we are aware or not, the battle over souls is a continuous event. And any angle that the enemy can use to his advantage he will. It is of the utmost importance for the child of God to right his light as soon as possible.
Naturally we all shift. But how long and how far do we let the change affect us? Your greatest witnesses are the words never said, but the actions you have taken. As a believer in Christ we need to be reminded that this fight is not with the flesh and blood, but a battle fought on the spiritual plains!
Godspeed, The Journeyman
