new days...

The tunnels of shade and light exist down the country road. The sun has already begun to fall in the western sky. It hung around for the drive home, but soon tucked away shortly after, welcoming the long snooze before the next day, when it was to awaken over the skyline of the Potomac. This tunnel of light and darkness can create an episode of good and evil combating each other as the race of humanity passes by en route to their destination.

Trickling between deception and reality the mind focuses on the traffic ahead, while interpreting the carved paths laid with a firm black carpet. The patterns communicate the directions and options available over certain portions of the maze. The driver must select in rapid fashion the way that will be traversed. Hoping that the choice will be proven righteous and safe in the end.

Standing on the crusted plains of the dry valley, with no movement from the wind, only scorching heat, provided by the diffused light, from the sun above, this man stood still awaiting and beholding the portrait that was displayed in front of him. Words were non existent at the flash of devastation that was laid out in the valley. The dust and brittle bones were strewn everywhere as if some huge event had removed all traces of what it was to be human and spirited. Israel had been removed from it’s home.

Covering the valley with a suppressed light so it wouldn’t hide the effects of what had happened, the darkness was seeking to keep the basin in the decrepit state. But when the son of man was told to speak a gathering occurred. Bone met up to bone. Sinew was threaded over the unified skeleton. Skin was formed on top. Then, yes then, the order of the winds was instructed to fill this creature. The bones became a living breathing army of the God of Israel.

New days were now on the horizon. God had remembered His people once again. The command had been spoken. His people would be returning from the exile in a renaissance. A new hope was birthed in God’s people. The time was not far off, only momentary interruptions as the prophecy was fulfilled. Ezekiel would not make the journey back; he would be buried in the only land he knew. But Israel would return home.

As a prophet of old, Ezekiel is one unique character. I find this man knew revelations of God that others couldn’t even dream of. Not even Daniel. His relationship with His Creator was so unique and peculiar, that every-time he started down a path, it seemed God would throw a change-up and teach Ezekiel something new.

After reaching the valley, Ezekiel was asked if there could be life there. His answer was the only one he could give: “O God, only You know.” When things seem to be bleakest, God does something new. He gave Israel the promise of a new day! He gave hope! He made them to be great again! If the Good Lord can cause a valley of disassociated bones to reform in proper fashion and instill His Breath again, then the scenarios that we are hurdling through can be overcome. If it’s death, then life. If it’s loss, then a discovery. If it’s a hurt, then a healing. Whatever your valley, as a beloved child of the Lord, you have a new day coming. Alleluia!

Godspeed, The Journeyman

Ps. Today’s story comes from the roller coaster of life. May His breath renew your spirit this day! May you forever be changed in His likeness! Check out Ezekiel he is a unique guy! The valley of bones is in chapter 37. Some of the hiccups that came along can be found addressed in Nehemiah. Alleluia and amen!
