instilled hope...

At times we look for events and dates to start something fresh. We go through holidays, birthdays, and vacations, looking for something to set off a chain reaction. This reaction then becomes a time stamp in one’s life, where you can look back years down the road and say “that was my moment. It was my pivot point.”

Graced to spend the New Year’s celebration with my parents this holiday. It was a time of joy and laughter that made the heart merry! A time to discuss future plans, breakthroughs, and fulfillment. An element of hope filled the air, but not just where we were. It spread across the globe as each time zone progressed from the old year and into the new. The present was real and a demarcation for many.

As Christians we have an opportunity to set a new phase in our relationship with our Creator. No, it doesn’t take Christmas, New Year’s, or any other special day. It really just takes a willing heart right where you are to do this. Sometimes we prefer to have that “set date” that allows us to move forward physically and mentally. We progress into the new day with an instilled hope.

God’s Word came in the flesh to save a part of humanity that could not do it on it’s own. Even when the Lord became angry and frustrated with His holy people, He still gave them the gift of hope. Whether it was Moses standing in the gap so Israel would not be destroyed for their hardness of heart, or the banishment of 70 years to a foreign land and rule, God left a gift for those who had ears to hear. He infused them with hope.

Today, He has given us hope. As the calendar ticks forward with each new day, may we take advantage of the gift put into us and make the most of it. May the hope of Christ shine in you and fuse to the people you commune with. Let this day, wherever you are, be your line of demarcation. Leave the old spite, disdain, hatred, bitterness, in the past. Don’t be bound to that vile root. Ask the Healer to smooth over the hurt and moments that caused this plant to grab hold of you.

May the light of the new year be found throughout all of your days. May He take you to the mountain top and serenade you with His love. May you respond when you hear His voice. “My Beloved is mine and I am His!”

Godspeed, The Journeyman
