Jealous...

Its not often we get a chance to fellowship and discuss the flavors of God. But when the time presents itself, it is always well received and a bit of nourishment for the soul. The beauty of the Lord is that He is a jealous God. He has high demands and is full of Himself and I do not mean in a way that is malevolent. John captures the prayer of Jesus and it permeates of His desire.

God is a god, no, He is the God. He has paid a price for His special possession. You are His and He is yours. There is no other way. He hears when you call to Him. He knows your heart’s pitter patter. He sees what motivates you. He works it out for the benefit of His beloved.

Sitting across the table having a delightful conversation and enjoying the welcomed company, a conversation begins out of necessity and desire. One, to kill the unfamiliarity, and two, to ease into a moment of fellowship. Who knew if it would be a success or wind up like the Hindenburg? Only the God who orchestrated the meeting.

God was jealous for His beloved to find nourishment and a warming smile. He was waiting for His beloved to be jealous over Him. If a demand is placed on Him, He will heed the call. But He will also place a demand on you. As doctor Luke once wrote in the twelfth chapter: “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required…” (Luke 12: 48) Solomon painted a picture of the beloved and his desire towards her. The maiden responded with a desire for her king. The two intertwine the mystery of love dotting on each other’s ways and beauty. They had a desire. They had a fervent jealousy for each other.

Godspeed, The Journeyman
