expressions...

Growing up is never easy when you are a kid. Your focal point is relatively narrow and one’s view of time is limited. The essence of now is always pressing. The plans of tomorrow and beyond are always forever…

God’s plans are for ever too. He orchestrated them before time came into existence. He knew what He would do. He knew you then and He knows you now, just take a look at Jeremiah 1:5. The Lord carries you beyond your scope of being and makes sure you are good. The only thing you have to do is receive.

Much like the child growing, he or she readily receives food, shelter, comfort, drink, love, and more from those closest to him or her. Without much question or thought it just happens. When a demand is placed, it is met and fulfilled to the best of the parents or guardians’ abilities. Except when it comes to things detrimental to the child’s well being.

We are given steps as we grow. “If everyone jumps off of a bridge, will you follow?” “Do to others what you would want them to do for you.” “A little sweat on the brow is good for you.” Some of the greatest words shared, as we grow, stick with you and me, and we become “keepers of the code.” We are entrusted to pass on the messages of wisdom to the next generations. God does this too. And it comes with promises of: long life, health, fortune, and restful sleep.

These expressions that have been shared from the “keepers of the code” are based on statements and truths found in Solomon’s writings. Take a glance at the third chapter of Proverbs it starts with a doozey. My Son: don’t forget my teachings and keep them in your heart and they will cause you to have: length of days, long life, peace. Remember to practice mercy and truth because they will give you good standing in the sight of God and people (v1-4).

Godspeed, The Journeyman

Ps. Today’s story comes from the reality of life. May the saltiness of the Lord be found in you! Some of the references can be found in Jeremiah 1, Proverbs 3, and Matthew 5-7.
