There are things inside of a man or woman that no one knows. For “who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults (Psalm 19:12 ESV).” We call these the hidden planes of life or maybe that is just me! Either way, the inner being walks a path of its own discourse. It can be hidden from those that have known us the longest, such as, our parents, siblings, spouses and friends. But there is one who can read our mail like no other. He sees the emails that were drafted, but never sent. He sees the ones we have transmitted and received. He knows the workings of the internet and those of life’s very existence. “For my eyes are on all their ways. They are not hidden from me (Jeremiah 16:17 ESV) …”
God’s existence is our reason for being. Without Him we are never conceived. All of creation would not be. A.W. Tozer once quoted someone. Who it was, I do not know, but he did it all the same. Tozer said something like this: “Think of a hazelnut. Picture it in your mind. Now understand this, all that was, is, and will be, the whole of all creation, exists in that hazelnut.” Andrew Murray in his book “on the Holy Spirit” would go on to say “man lost the life of having God dwell within him at the fall in the garden…” But later on he would address the return of our communion with a simple scripture from the book of John. It was the prayer of Jesus… “Father as you are in me, and I am in you, so they may be in Us (John 17: 21 paraphrased).”
Our God is immeasurable. The whole of creation to Him is a hazelnut or walnut! The atom and its components are: neutrons, protons, and electrons. My science has taught me that much. But where my understanding stops, His keeps going. The space between these objects and subatomic particles, the fibers of all that is matter and anti-matter is contained in that hazelnut. God’s being is woven throughout it. “And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together (Colossians 1: 17 ESV).”
In the depths of who you are, the place where you keep your hazelnut, share it before the Lord and ask as David once did: “search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, lead me in the way everlasting (Psalm 139: 23-24 ESV).” Start conversing with your maker. He loves you all the same!
Godspeed, The Journeyman
Ps. Luke 12: 2 says: “Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.” It is important for us to be real. Not riled up opinionated Pharisees pointing an assortment of fingers. But to go humbly and thank God, that we too were sinners. For if we weren’t, we would have no need of a Savior.
