a divided heaven...

Over the years we have had many individuals run for the high office in the land. Each one tried to characterize their campaign and vision for the future with a crafty slogan. With a quick internet search we can glean a “list of U.S. Presidential Campaign Slogans” from Wikipedia. Starting with Bush we find: “Compassionate Conservatism” and “A safer world and a more hopeful America”; from Obama we had “Change we can believe in”, “Hope”, and “Forward”; then came Trump with a regenerated message from Reagan “Make America Great Again.”

It’s here where I want to take a stand and share something that caught my eye in my morning read. So much banter, so much division, so much combativeness. We are seeing a battle that started outside of our sightlines but is being fought within our borders. The world is tuned in to see how it will play out. America is in a fight for more than a few political seats.

“This is what the Lord says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls’ (Jeremiah 6:16 NIV)…”

Impressions are a form of sight and sound. Something seen and or heard then a story begins. In this, the divided heavens, I see a country who has lost its way and each leader that has come to be since the turn of the new millennia has drawn such attention to it with their slogans. What is happening above us in the spiritual is manifesting in our climate today. Whether you like the person or party is irrelevant. The point is to hear God in it and see God in it. The more clutter and confusion that is strewn around the more difficult it can be to hear or see God’s involvement. But make no mistake He is in the midst of it.

So today as you set out for family fun, earthly responsibilities, or just resting on the couch with a loved one, take a moment and ask the Lord to be able to see, know, and walk the ancient paths. It is there you will find His rest in the midst of the turmoil.

Godspeed, The Journeyman

Ps. Below are some additional scriptures if you feel like exploring. But try to find God in the moments we share. A safer world needs hope and greatness, for in that we find a profound goodness. Don’t miss The Voice in the mayhem. Love you all. Praying for you.

Isaiah 24: 19-20 NIV “The earth is broken up, the earth is split asunder, the earth is violently shaken. The earth reels like a drunkard, it sways like a hut in the wind; so heavy upon it is the guilt of its rebellion that it falls—never to rise again.”

Jeremiah 6: 16 NIV “This is what the Lord says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls…’”

Jeremiah 6: 17 NIV “I appointed watchmen over you and said, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But you said, ‘We will not listen.’”

John 14: 27 KJV “Peace I leave with you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
