In the midst of praying for people, every once in a while, I get a glimpse of what they are struggling on. Many people complain of being set on a rocky foundation. They are in a relationship, marriage, work, friendship, or some other cataclysmic event that has got them wrapped up in a struggle. This is part of us being human. We struggle when the rocks are exposed. Like “no duh, they’re rocks!”
I’m not belittling the pressures and troubles that people experience, God knows I’ve had my fair share of them as well. Our problem is we focus on the rocks and not the intended purpose of them. They aren’t being hurled. They aren’t sliding down the mountain side. In fact, it is very much the opposite. God is building something up!
The rocky foundation that you are struggling with is becoming a foundational path that you are laying for others to follow. Those gaps that have besieged you will quickly become united. God is forging a new way forward with you so don’t lose hope. Don’t give up. You are almost standing up again ready to run. The chaff must be separated from what God is doing in you (Psalm 35:5 ESV). Sometimes it is painful, but help each other up. Be a listening ear when needed and be a comfort when it is called for.
We all get knocked down. But not all get back up. Let it not be said that we laid down when it was time to forge on! The storm comes to wash away that which cannot stand (Matthew 7:24-27 ESV). Carry on…
Godspeed, The Journeyman
Ps. Sometimes it’s the smallest of things that can mean the most. Take time to spend with the Lord today, He is listening!
Psalm 35:5 ESV “Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them away!”
Matthew 7: 24-27 ESV “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
