There used to be a show that I put together with some members of my family for broadcasting on a local television channel, called Tome Más! Meaning: have more; to drink more… Granted this is a similar term that could be used in a bar room, but at that moment, it was for the glory of God!
The program was a pastor’s message to reach his community, mostly recorded in his office chambers. And this memory came flooding back in after almost 20 years, Tome Más! Have more! Have some more to drink! Drink deep! Drink often! Drink much! But what are we to drink of? His Spirit. His Word. His peace. Drink Him in. Be in His presence.
In the scriptures we find that we have a unique description given to us that have been saved. Saved from us, saved from our sin, saved from damnation, saved from destruction, saved from separation. Our salvation was free from our perspective, but from God’s perspective, it took His Son, Jesus, to redeem us.
What a price to have been paid! But it was paid for willingly, “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself (John 10:18).” Yes, He was the sacrifice for our atonement and His blood covered time, all time. The time before. The time during. The time after. He paid the price for all who would receive Him. “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God (Hebrews 10:12)…”
As this extraordinary atonement took place, God shared with you and me how much He valued each of us. He bridged the gap that we could not cross on our own. By placing our faith in Jesus Christ, we become God’s Children (Galatians 3:26). That is who we are. That is who you are. That is who I am. Done. It is settled.
Often we go to God with a list asking or petitioning for things that we need… and that is good. Often we go to God telling Him what we see and want to see done… and that is good. Often we go to God speaking and voicing demands that we expect… and that is good. Often we forget to ask God what is Thy Will? What do you want of me today? What do You seek?
Whether it’s the Lord’s Prayer, Our Father, or the voicing of Jeremiah 33: 3, “call to me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which you do not know.” It is our duty to seek His Will to be done on Earth. Jesus showed us this was the way. If He did it, shouldn’t we? Remember He has good good plans for you, good things, not harmful (Jeremiah 29: 11). But how will you know them if you never take time to ask?
Seek the Lord while He may be found (Isaiah 55: 6)!
Godspeed, The Journeyman
